Michael McAneny

Light Entertainment Organist

I was born in Bedford in 1979. Five years later I started learning the organ progressing through the years gaining experience playing at many local functions. During that time I paid regular visits with my parents to Turners in Northampton, where sometimes after the shows Mr Turner would allow me to play the Wurlitzer. From this I formed a good relationship with Nicholas Martin who, in later years, became my coach on the electronic organ. At school I took piano lessons with a piano teacher that I formed a bad relationship with, who in later years was replaced by a piano teacher that turned out to be worse. Piano lessons did help to enhance my left hand and I also gained some knowledge of classical music. I also studied classical organ for a year before the teacher emigrated to Cyprus. I left school at the age of fifteen to work in a garage.....

In November 2000 I had a motor bike accident that resulted in two broken wrists and three months off work. Since then I have recovered well and haven’t let it affect my playing, it hasn't got any better. I am now 28 and live just to the east of Northampton in a small town called Irthlingborough. When playing for Organ and Keyboard Clubs around the country I use a Yamaha EL90 along side a Yamaha Motif 8. The Motif 8 is used for its very realistic piano sound. This enables me to perform a wide range of music to suit all tastes. At the beginning of this year I invested in new amplification to enhance the sound of the Organ and Piano for your enjoyment.

The last year has been a very busy year, mainly concert work but I am now fortunate enough to  start attending festivals which allows me to get to know the people that follow the organ world a little closer.

If your club is ever let down and you need somebody with only hours to go before a concert is due to start then I will do my best to help out.

Thank you for visiting my site and I look forward to meeting you at a concert soon,

Michael
